Summary
Create a map that shows different businesses and facilities around Royston that can help individuals live a more sustainable local life.

Detailed description
Royston Environmental Group is a volunteer-run group that aims to improve the environment in the Royston area and globally. We want to bring together the residents of the Royston area and foster a better understanding of environmental issues and what you can do to help. We organise a variety of events and initiatives from Green Festivals to litter picks to Plastic Free Royston. Collaboration with other local groups and institutions is key to what we do.

The role:
Our intention is to create a map that shows different businesses and facilities around Royston that can help individuals live a more sustainable local life. Our work with the public in Royston has shown that many individuals aren’t aware or don’t think of the many opportunities there are to make their life slightly greener, and this will help with that. Initially the map would probably be electronic only with a QR code or easy access website, but we would hope to be able to produce at least an initial hard copy version for handing out at events. We already have a good network of businesses and facilities we would like to include, though it would be good to add more.

Responsibilities
- Choosing and liaising with relevant businesses and facilities to ensure that information given is up to date and accurate
- Sourcing and working with a designer to produce a visually appealing map
- Acquiring funding for design and print work by use or sponsorship or grants
All of this will be undertaken subject to discussion with steering group members, which can be informal (via email/phone) or in a meeting. This proposal has a fixed end product and although updating may be required subsequently, the main part of the project would be over once the map was complete. We anticipate this could take a few months, mainly due to the necessity of gathering data from businesses.

Improving the environment in Royston and surrounds by bringing people together.
