Toy Library Volunteer — Flexible Hours & Community Impact in Rickmansworth

Rickmansworth Volunteer No working from home possible
DeedMob B.V

Rickmansworth Toy Library needs volunteers who are happy to process loans and memberships using a laptop and clean and tidy the Toy Cupboard.

Duties include:

  • Setting up the Toy Library sessions.
  • Welcoming new members.
  • Booking toys in and out and adding new members to the database.
  • Keeping the toy cupboard clean and tidy.
  • Work with our friendly team to brainstorm creative ways to reach more families and supporters.
  • For the social media/marketing role, create engaging posts for our social media channels to promote events and new toys.

What You’ll Bring

  • An interest in community projects and making a difference locally.
  • Basic experience with databases(we’ll provide training on our system–it’s very easy to use!)
  • For the social media volunteer, familiarity with social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

Why You’ll Love Volunteering with Us

  • Gain valuable, real-world experience in database administration and/or social media management.
  • Be part of a friendly team.
  • The social media role has completely flexible hours.
  • The joy of seeing your work directly benefit local children and families.
  • Opportunities to learn new skills and take on more responsibility if you wish.

We are also looking for someone who could help with publicity including our social media. This could be as well as or separately from the library volunteer.

Our Toy Library software uses a bespoke Access database and training is provided. We just need enthusiasm and the willingness to support a small local charity with its mission to promote childhood development whilst reducing waste.

Our current volunteers all started when we had pre-school children attending the toy library with us but as some of them are now working full-time, we need more volunteers. This is a great way to gain experience of working for a charity which may help you with future paid opportunities.
