Parndon Mill provides workspace for artists, craftspeople, designers and architects who have the opportunity to share ideas and use their different skills to collaborate on creative work. Parndon Mill is Harlow’s very own artistic and creative hub in a stunning riverside setting. Our mission is to promote the arts throughout the town and surrounding areas.
The Mill provides vibrant workspaces for artists, craftspeople, designers and architects to practise their craft and collaborate on creative projects. Workshops and classes take place in artists’ studios and the Project Space, which is also available to hire. The Gallery offers an exciting programme of affordable arts and crafts exhibitions in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Our vision is to give everyone in our community the opportunity to experience, create and appreciate art and crafts. We are looking for a number of proactive individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help ensure our vibrant community thrives long into the future.
The Mill has existed as a centre for the arts for more than 50 years but only became a charitable trust nine years ago. There is much to do to ensure the Mill delivers on its vision and mission. Our Business Plan - ‘Developing a Sustainable Future for Parndon Mill’ - identifies opportunities based on both Harlow’s history as a town with arts at its heart, and the growth that will arrive through the development of Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.
In order to deliver on our aims, we have much work to do, including but not limited to:
- raising profile and income;
- managing change;
- expanding facilities;
- ensuring equity of access to art;
- maintaining and preserving Grade II listed buildings.
We hold quarterly board meetings, and are looking for individuals who can both attend these and additionally lend their time, knowledge, experience and expertise in:
- Property management, letting, maintenance
- Fundraising and grant applications
- People management
- Third sector and charitable organisations
If you have experience in any of these fields, value the importance of the arts and can support our mission by dedicating some time, please contact trustee Jake Shepherd. We would be happy to arrange a visit or call, to explain more about what would be involved.
What we will provide to volunteers: Reimbursement of costs.
Location: Parndon Mill is situated at the North West Corner of Harlow, on the River Stort.
