We are proud to have the amazing collection ‘The Armoury'. Welcome visitors, and engage with them to explain and show the weapons and equipment.
The Royal Gunpowder Mills is a 170-acre site protected for its industrial heritage and natural history. Almost the whole site is classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). We open to the public to share the exhibitions and offer tours and activities. The charity’s aims are to protect, preserve, and enhance the special aspects of the site and to share the story of its industrial and social history, science, and nature.
We are reliant on volunteers to open the Armoury on public and group days. Help visitors enjoy and learn from the exhibits in the Armoury exhibition. Enable visitors to get the most from the experience by giving interesting and relevant information depending on their interest levels. Opportunities also exist to assist with the upkeep and improvement of the exhibition outside of open hours.
RGM is a heritage site and visitor attraction. The charity relies on volunteers to help preserve and share the 170 acres of protected industrial and natural history.
