Detailed description
Harpenden Mencap supports local adults with learning disabilities to enjoy activities and social events in their community. Volunteer drivers help by taking people to places like rugby matches, choir, social clubs, shopping trips and appointments, using their own or one of Harpenden Mencap\’s vehicles.
Key responsibilities:
- Safely transport people we support to and from activities, appointments, and outings
- Provide a friendly and welcoming presence on each journey
- Assist passengers in and out of the vehicle where needed (training provided)
- Ensure vehicles are used responsibly and kept clean and tidy
- Communicate any issues or concerns to Harpenden Mencap staff
- Safe and confident driver with a full, valid driving licence
- Respectful and supportive towards people with learning disabilities
- Trustworthy, reliable and punctual
Additional information
You may drive your own vehicle or Harpenden Mencap\’s minibus, people carrier or wheelchair van. Training will be provided. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Opportunities are available on weekdays and weekends in the daytime and evenings to take the people we support to social events and scheduled activities.
