Detailed description
Harpenden Mencap hosts a weekly social club for local adults with learning disabilities to build confidence, learn new skills and make friends. It offers a variety of fun and interesting activities, such as arts and crafts, games, music and exercise.
Key responsibilities
- Join in and encourage participation in group activities
- Support members to engage at their own pace and celebrate their achievements
- Be a friendly face welcoming club members at the start of each session
- Ensure club members leave the venue safely at the end of the session
- Help activity leaders set up and tidy away materials and equipment
- Help prepare refreshments for members and other volunteers
- Trustworthy and reliable
- Comfortable in chatting with a variety of people
