The Clinical Psychologist (adult and child) will provide comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for Service Members in accordance with state licensure requirements, APA ethical standards, and military treatment facility privileges. Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to deliver crisis intervention, risk assessments, psychological testing, rehabilitation support, and fitness-for-duty evaluations while ensuring high-quality behavioral health care for military personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD). Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Additional training is required for psychology specialties.
- Internship/Residency: Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
- License: Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist from any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or other U.S. territory. Must be eligible for credentialing and clinical privileges at a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Experience: Required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the credentialing instruction. Child Psychologist - Have at least two years’ experience providing family centered services to a population of young children with disabilities and their families, including diagnosis and treatment of sleeping, feeding, attachment, and other behaviour disorders using behaviour management and other techniques.
- Preferred: Prior experience working with/or treating active duty servicemembers and/or their family members and/or having a sound working knowledge of military culture.
CNACI Child Care National Agency Check with Inquiries is required for this position. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
- Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
- Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
- Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
- Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
- Administer and interpret psychological test measures.
- Provide crisis intervention services and triage coverage to clinically assess Service Members in acute emotional distress.
- Participate in interdisciplinary behavioral health treatment team to provide effective and efficient patient care for Service Members.
- Conduct thorough risk assessment for suicidality and homicidality.
- Assist with fitness for duty and other report creation (med boards, profiles, etc.).
Work Environment & Schedule
On site, required services may be scheduled between the hours of 6:30am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Physical requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout a medical treatment facility for extended periods while providing patient care, participating in interdisciplinary meetings, and responding to behavioral health emergencies. Must be able to communicate effectively, use computers and standard office equipment, observe and assess patient behaviour, and occasionally lift or carry up to 20 pounds of files, testing materials, or office supplies.
