The Company
Is a long-established (founded 1881), premium manufacturer of bespoke decorative metal grilles, vent covers and architectural metalwork. We work directly with joiners, architects, designers and high-end private clients on prestigious projects across the UK and internationally. We are not a volume manufacturer. We are a quality-first, detail-driven business known for delivering what others cannot.

This is a hands-on General Manager role running a small but highly skilled manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for the entire process from enquiry through to delivery, including:
- Handling incoming enquiries (phone, email, website)
- Interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
- Pricing work using in-house systems
- Coordinating subcontractors and suppliers
- Scheduling work through the workshop
- Managing delivery timelines and client expectations
- Overseeing quality control
- Managing and motivating a small team (3-5 fabricators)
- Maintaining operational flow across multiple concurrent projects
This is not a corporate role. There are no layers, no departments, and no hiding place. You will be expected to:
- Take ownership
- Make decisions
- Solve problems
- Occasionally step into the workshop when required
What We Are Looking For
You must have:
- Proven experience in manufacturing or fabrication management
- Ability to read and interpret technical / architectural drawings
- Experience pricing / estimating bespoke or project-based work

- Excellent written and spoken English (client-facing role)
- Confidence dealing directly with clients, suppliers and contractors
Highly desirable:
- Experience in metalwork, joinery, or architectural products
- Experience in small business environments
- Practical, hands-on mindset
What This Role Is NOT
This role is not suitable for:
- Candidates without manufacturing or technical experience
- Pure sales or account management backgrounds
- Candidates who require structured corporate environments
- Those looking for a purely office-based role
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take control of a respected, premium manufacturing business and:
- Build operational resilience
- Improve systems and workflow
- Contribute to controlled, profitable growth
- Work directly with high-end clients and projects
You will have real autonomy and responsibility.
Additional Responsibilities
The role also includes light management of the wider premises.
How to Apply
Please apply with: CVA brief covering note outlining:
- Your experience in manufacturing environments
- Your experience with drawings / estimation
- Why this role appeals to you
Final Note
We are looking for someone who is:
- Practical
- Decisive
