Specific Role & Responsibilities:- LMS Administration & Maintenance: Take full ownership of the day-to-day administration, configuration, and technical support for the Canvas LMS environment with other critical systems (e.g., Credly, Data Camp, etc), including managing user accounts, roles, permissions, course creation, and system settings.
- Content Structure and Delivery: Define and manage a coherent, intuitive, and seamless learning structure within the LMS. Upload learning assets (eLearning modules, videos, podcasts, quizzes) to build sophisticated blended learner journeys in partnership with the LXD team.
- System Optimisation & Enhancement: Proactively monitor system performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement new features, integrations, and tools within LMS to enhance the learner experience and administrative efficiency.
- Technical Support & Training: Act as the Tier 3 technical support for all Canvas-related issues. Develop and deliver internal training and documentation for Decoded staff on effective use of the LMS features, best practices, and new functionalities.
- Data Integrity & Reporting: Ensure the integrity of data within the LMS. Work closely with data and analytics teams to support the extraction and reporting of learner progress, activity, and attainment data, using these insights to inform platform improvements.
- Integration Management: Manage the integration and maintenance of LMS with other critical systems (e.g., Credly, Data Camp, etc) to maintain a seamless flow of data and administrative processes.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure the LMS adheres to internal security protocols and external data protection regulations, specifically supporting requirements for UK Apprenticeships and associated governance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team to ensure the platform capabilities meet instructional design needs and with the Internal Quality Assurance team to support the monitoring and observation processes.
- Future-Proofing: Stay current with LMS developments, releases, and the broader EdTech landscape, making recommendations for strategic platform evolution.
- Essential: You are passionate about leveraging technology to deliver high-quality learning experience and understand the critical role an LMS plays in a modern learning organisation.
- You have a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on, expert experience as an LMS Administrator, Canvas LMS (Instructure) as a bonus.
- You possess a strong technical background with experience in managing integrations, LTI tools, and user data synchronisation within an LMS.
- You are highly proficient in troubleshooting complex technical issues, capable of escalating and resolving issues directly with vendors (Instructure Support).
- You are a data-driven thinker, capable of extracting, transforming, and validating LMS data for accurate reporting on learner activity and outcomes.
- You are an exceptional communicator, able to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical staff including Trainers, Learners and Management.
- Bonus: You have experience supporting LMS environments for training, apprenticeships, or corporate education.
- You are familiar with data privacy standards and security requirements relevant to UK educational data.
- You have experience with basic coding or scripting (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python) for customising the Canvas user interface or building simple integrations.
- You have worked with AI and Generative AI technologies in learning environments.
- Your performance will be measured and driven by a mindset built on: The learner and their success is at the heart of everything you do and the decisions you make.
- Being human-centred and data-driven. You will care passionately about delivering a robust and reliable platform, and see system performance and accurate data as key tools in enabling high-quality education at scale.
- Proactively step to collaborate with key stakeholders and to resolve learner-facing or system issues.
- Striving for excellence in platform performance and stability, ensuring a seamless experience for every user.
- Building brilliant, collaborative, and productive relationships with LXD, trainers, and external vendors to drive platform utility.
- Solving problems elegantly and creatively, you have a “find a way or make a way” mentality when resolving complex technical hurdles within the platform.
- Taking accountability for the system's uptime and the success of others who rely on the platform to deliver and consume learning.
