Overview
We are looking for a Principal Technologist to develop our best-in-class learning programmes for our commercially funded clients. Our Principal Technologist will be a domain knowledge expert who is passionate about sharing their knowledge with others. They will apply their classroom experience and technical knowledge to develop new learning programme content development for Decoded’s customers. You will be part of the team setting product direction, quality and relevance of our product and proposition with the opportunity to drive product direction and content.
This role includes delivery of workshops, delivery of content against solution and customer requirements, and subject matter leadership across one or more domains. The majority of workshops will be 1, 3.5 or 4.5 hours long (including set-up and wrap-up time). The workshops will be delivered between 08:30 - 17:30 GMT. Infrequently you may be asked to work outside core UK working hours due to the global nature of Decoded's client base.
Accountabilities
As a Principal Technologist at Decoded, you will be responsible for:
- Product ownership of a specific digital, data or technology knowledge domain
- Facilitating our learning content to groups of adult learners via virtual workshops
- Own, design and develop of learning products for Decoded's customers
- Developing the curriculum and content of our programmes within the Scope of Work agreed with the customer
- Collaborating with SME peers and LXD colleagues on completing final programme content
- Honing your skills as an educator and building your knowledge of andragogy and teaching theory
Specific role & responsibilities
Your specific responsibilities are:
- Product ownership of a specific digital, data or technology knowledge domain
- You will be a domain knowledge expert and provide technical leadership in this sphere.
- Act as technical leader with the organisation to ensure development of understanding in your domain across the delivery team
- Support the product and commercial teams to define product and solution opportunities as required.

Workshop preparation and knowledge of content
- Comprehensively understand the learning products you are assigned to deliver
- Learning about your learners and the businesses they work for
- Define and manage resources and assets for products and programmes you own, proactively filling gaps in your knowledge
- Maintaining a continual learning mindset and strive to advance your knowledge in your specialist domains
Facilitation skills
- Virtual classroom management
- Setting and maintaining an atmosphere that is professional and energetic, with good energy and engagement level with learners
- Timekeeping using our lesson plans and preparation materials
- Technical issues using Zoom/Teams, Mural, Menti and other key tools
Learning programme content development
- Utilising domain knowledge to create learning content (lesson content, virtual learning content and assessment materials) using the Scope of Work agreed with the customer to fulfil their requirements
- Identifying and implementing improvements to content directly
- Providing direction and collaborating as an SME with peers who will complete work on new and existing learning solutions as required
- Collaborating with colleagues to iterate and develop content tailored to the scope of work and learning objectives

- A passionate technologist with over 2 years of experience in a professional technical training setting facilitating workshops
- Confident coding in Python

Team reporting and structure
You will report to the Portfolio Director in the Product Department.
Day-To-Day
This role can be delivered fully remote, provided the working location has consistently reliable Wifi for workshop delivery and up to 2 hours +/- GMT. The Decoded office in London Liverpool Street is available for non-workshop delivery work. You will work from 9am - 5pm. When required, you may need to travel to your learners' workplaces to deliver in person workshops which are delivered in a variety of locations particularly in London and across Europe. Given the global nature of our learner and customer base, you may be or it is likely that there will be occasions when you are required to adjust your working hours, working outside your normal working pattern of 9 am – 5 pm. We will endeavour to provide as much notice as is reasonably possible and discuss this with you in advance of any prolonged requirements. In these cases, you will be entitled to flexibility around working time to ensure adequate rest breaks.
