The Role: As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll support the day-to-day transactions within the accounts for Deckers EMEA entities. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, completing assigned tasks during period close, reconciling accounting schedules across the balance sheet, and managing daily banking reconciliation for assigned entities. You’ll also interact with other business units to clarify external transactions and provide explanations of variances for review.

Your Impact:

  • Manage bank reconciliation for UK and EU entities, ensuring daily accuracy using cash management tools and BlackLine.
  • Own the end-to-end bank reconciliation process, including monthly reconciliations and supporting schedules for manual matching.
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items by collaborating with Retail Managers and stakeholders.
  • Identify and post journals for bank charges, commissions, fees, and other non-sales related transactions with correct GL coding.
  • Proactively follow up on aged or unclear reconciling items, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Support the setup of new stores within BlackLine and coordinate with Treasury for new bank account integration.
  • Own the reconciliation process for Other Receivables/Payables accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of aged balances.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders to validate transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and distribute summaries of open items following month end, including status updates and actions required.
  • Complete Office of National Statistics and other required statistics reporting for assigned entities (monthly, quarterly, annual surveys).
  • Provide broader support across the EMEA accounting team as needed.
