Work Environment: Full time Laboratory Based; Kidlington, Oxford, UK. Travel may be very rarely required, on an ad hoc basis. Shift Work: You will work on an 8.5 hour shift basis (inclusive of lunch) between the hours of 7.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday and occasional weekend. Shift Times will be scheduled each week on a rota and communicated by your Line Manager. If you require flexible start times please advise & we're open to discussing.
Specimen Dissection - Team Leadership - The Highest Standards: This is not a standard lab role. Ours is not a standard Histopathology Lab. At Diagnexia you are the clinical reference point for a fully digitised pathology laboratory — leading on shift, developing people, and contributing directly to a service that is changing how pathology is delivered at scale. If you have taken your dissection expertise as far as your current environment allows, this is your next move.
Your role:
- Lead the lab on shift: Most senior dissection practitioner accountable for throughput, quality, and team performance day to day.
- Dissect a range of RCPath Category A through E specimens, be our technical reference for every junior in the lab.
- Drive quality and compliance: Assist with UKAS and ISO 15189 audit readiness. Maintain and develop SOPs to RCPath standards.
- Develop your team: Design and deliver training, run competency assessments, participate in hiring and appraisals.
- Deputise for the Lab Manager: Operational lead during planned absences. Contribute to business development as required.
- Drive R&D: Contribute to tissue labelling, digitisation, and analysis technique development.

What you need to succeed:
- You are a UK based HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and bring the following:
- A HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, maintained at all times with active CPD.
- Hold a BSc Biomedical Science Degree.
- Ideally have completed your IBMS Higher Specialist Portfolio (Dissection) or Masters.
- 4+ years in a UK UKAS-accredited histopathology or cellular pathology laboratory.
- Category A - E specimen dissection experience (not all but some).
- Confidence with special stains, embedding, microtome, and section cutting.
- Experience mentoring or supervising laboratory staff.
- Digital pathology experience is a bonus, not a barrier. If you are curious and driven, we will build that with you.
