This role directs and leads strategy, planning and execution of allocated procurement sub-categories for Logistics and Warehousing to deliver competitive advantage for Dechra through cost savings, lifecycle value generation, demand management and innovation. With specific logistics and warehousing category knowledge, this will be achieved through the creation and continual review of robust and forward-looking plans that use the full range of supply and demand-side levers including the execution of these plans and the achievement of savings. The role will develop influential relationships across markets, sites and Dechra division, including ownership of the procurement compliance.
Role Responsibility
This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
- Lead strategic sourcing projects involving 3rd Party Logistics Providers across Road, Courier, Warehousing and Customs Clearance & Compliance
- Management of RFQ's / ITT's / RFI's through directly managing the approach
- Driving business outcomes and behaviours with subject matter expertise to deliver value through the category planning lifecycle
- Constantly monitoring the supplier market and identify opportunities resulting from new product offerings and/or market shifts (e.g. entry or exit of suppliers, changes in pricing, risk on category)
- Seeking alternatives to current category specifications and demand parameters
- Continually monitoring compliance across the indirect spend and driving corrective action as necessary
- Drive strategic supplier relationships forward across key 3rd Party Logistics Providers
- Develop a supply base to build the capacity and capability to deliver the business' requirements
- Continually assess the warehousing and logistics process and services across Dechra and identify, produce business cases and present opportunities in maximise value and effectiveness
- Inbound and outbound finished goods and raw material shipment

- Proven Procurement and Commercial experience in global logistics
- Experience of leading Third party logistics distribution and warehousing negotiations commercially and contractually
- Global / Regional Procurement Category Management Experience
- Track record of successfully leading cross functional strategic projects
- Influencing and collaborating with all internal and external stakeholder groups
- Successfully manage complex transformations, integrations and change management
- Able to operate effectively in a multi-cultural and matrix environment
- Flexibility, adaptability and with the ability to deliver in a timely manner
- High degree of collaborative working and team working capability
- Strategic & Innovative thinker
- Knowledgeable of import and export policies
- Pharmaceutical operational experience is desired (not essential)
- Third party logistics distribution (3PL) and warehousing global landscape knowledge including but not limited to operators
- Ability to influence senior leadership cross functionally
Additional Information:
Occasional global travel may be required with this role. This role is based in Northwich / hybrid.
