A new role has become available for a software Tester to bring in and develop standard testing procedures for functional and non-functional requirements. This is an exciting opportunity as the successful candidate will be able to take ownership of the test environment, evaluating the current procedures, providing recommendations and improving the current testing strategy.
Skills required for this role:
- Software / systems testing experience, able to effectively plan tests and estimate work
- Knowledge of SQL, Oracle/SQL Server are desirable but not essential
- Good time management skills to multi-task on complex overlapping activities
- Proficiency in using integrated development environments, version control systems and bug reporting tools
- Good technical understanding of computing devices and operating systems
- Automated testing not required but always beneficial
- ISEB Foundation Level or ISTQB certified
Software Tester responsibilities will include:
- Integrating testing best practice within an Agile software development environment
- Defining and documenting test scenarios and acceptance criteria for the product suite, whilst carrying out testing throughout the project lifecycle
- Providing feedback and information to relevant colleagues to allow for appropriate corrections to be made and help to shape future product development
- Creating testing documentation including test plans, use cases and issue logs
- Defining and managing an inventory for test cases and analysing for missing or incorrect information
- Designing, implementing and managing test conditions, scripts and controls
- Advising users through acceptance testing, ensuring testing is purposeful
- Ongoing evaluation of the testing procedures as part of a wider picture for the business and recommending improvements where necessary
Graduate/Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar or equivalent relevant work experience.
