Volunteer Fundraising & Marketing Committee | Debra

DEBRA UK exists to provide care and support to improve quality of life for people living with EB, and to fund pioneering research to find effective treatments for EB. Our vision is for a world where no one suffers with EB.

What difference will you make?

  • Shape our fundraising plans by bringing fresh ideas for campaigns, donor engagement, or income diversification.
  • Contribute marketing insight to refine messaging, branding, and outreach strategies to better connect with the target audience.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals with the following experience:

Fundraising

  • Senior leadership experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or income generation—ideally within or adjacent to the UK charity sector.
  • Strategic understanding of donor behaviour, brand building, or supporter engagement.
  • Experience at committee or board level (charity, public, or corporate sector).
  • Familiarity with legal, ethical, and regulatory considerations in UK charity fundraising.
  • Experience in setting and managing significant budgets and income targets.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and interrogate data, budgets, and reports.
  • A team player who is comfortable advising, supporting, and constructively challenging senior leadership, while maintaining a supportive and respectful tone.

Marketing

  • Senior leadership experience in marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic marketing transformations or brand repositioning initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of stakeholder engagement, digital ecosystems, and integrated communications.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics, CRM systems, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience in brand storytelling and content strategy.
  • Digital marketing experience including leveraging TikTok and Instagram to grow supporter base / drive donations.
  • Good understanding of working with and leveraging relationships with influencers to grow supporter base / drive donations.
  • Good understanding of lobbying and public affairs.
  • Event marketing / experiential marketing experience.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for individuals with either a Marketing or Fundraising background to join our Fundraising and Marketing Committee. This is a key committee, which helps to ensure DEBRA has the resources and visibility we need to achieve our mission. As a committee member, you will:

  • Identify and evaluate funding opportunities, such as grants, corporate sponsorships, individual giving, and events.
  • Help develop and monitor fundraising strategies to meet our financial targets.
  • Shape the charity\’s public image by guiding branding, messaging, and outreach.
  • Advocate for the EB cause, helping to influence public opinion or policy where relevant.
