Your Role

We’re looking for a commercially aware, detail‑driven Beauty Buyer to join our dynamic team. You will get the opportunity to:

  • Create joint business plans and build strong brand partnerships.
  • Represent Debenhams at trade shows and industry events.
  • Identify and onboard new brands to strengthen and diversify the beauty offering.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Negotiating commercial terms with suppliers, including pricing, margins, exclusivity, and payment terms.
  • Staying ahead of beauty trends, using consumer insights and competitor analysis to inform product selection and strategy.
  • Curating a trend‑led, commercially balanced assortment across mass and prestige beauty.
  • Using data to drive performance, managing sales targets, margin, inventory, stock turn, and profit metrics.
  • Leading continuous improvement through regular range reviews and SKU optimisation.
  • Collaborating cross‑functionally with marketing, tech, content, and e‑commerce teams to support brand launches, activations, and promotional campaigns.
  • Working closely with the marketing team to align on brand and product priorities for each campaign, and to define funding targets, launch plans, and wider commercial objectives.
  • Supporting activity in the London showroom, including contributing to the events calendar, coordinating new brand launches, and assisting with influencer and brand takeovers.
  • Curating brand and product ranges for Debenhams Group sites, securing brand approvals where required.
  • Managing and developing a Buying Assistant, providing clear guidance, support, and coaching.

  • 5+ years in buying, ideally within beauty and e‑commerce.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing key performance metrics.
  • Trend‑led, with a finger on the pulse of product innovation and consumer behaviour.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience working with prestige beauty brands and strong industry relationships with key beauty brands and stakeholders.
