Being an active member of Debenhams Supply Chain Training Team, Trainers will deliver a wide range of training, from mandatory H&S training (Manual Handling, Site Inductions, etc.) through to systems training (WAMAS, WMS, etc.). The job holder will be responsible for all mandatory operational training, ensuring it is maintained and enhanced. They will ensure all mandatory H&S process and development training is delivered to the highest standard. Provide skills training that provide superior job performance at all levels, they must ensure all training records are up to date at all times, whilst achieving business goals, and focusing on continuous improvement and promoting a positive culture.

The working hours for this role is Monday - Friday 08:30am - 17:00pm.

Responsibilities:

  • The trainer will be accountable for delivering training to a high level and signing off colleagues once deemed competent and capable to do so.
  • Trainers will also be expected to conduct practical work-based assessments on colleagues.
  • Reviewing and amending site processes (SOP’s, Risk Assessments, etc.).
  • Hazard spotting and reporting effectively (managing and training individuals with limited abilities).
  • Ensuring colleagues are signed off on tasks within a timely manner and communicated effectively to ensure compliance.
  • Delivers well-structured concise and engaging training solutions.
  • Ensures that the delivery of all operational training is professional, and delivered in line with boohoo values and culture, under guidance of Operational Training Manager and seeking advice from L&D Manager if required.
  • Reviews operational training processes continually, making suggestions to Training Manager regarding improvements.
  • Designs training delivery as required, seeking approval from Training Manager prior to implementation.
  • Maintains operational knowledge of all areas of operation – able to perform and audit all tasks covered in operational training programmes.
  • Undertakes development as required to advance personal training skills.
  • Acts as ambassador for boohoo culture and values at all times and is a role model for new starters – engages and motivates new and long serving colleagues.
  • Maintains excellent and up to date knowledge of WMS system to incorporate in new starter and refresher training as required.
  • Builds and maintains close and effective relationships with all areas of business including SOM’s, H&S Manager, HR team and Finance to support with delivery of speed to competence and effective responses to performance issues.
  • During ‘quieter’ training periods undertakes operational duties as requested by Training Manager/Site Management.
  • Carry out site inductions to new starters. This requires good knowledge of PowerPoint and site procedures.
  • Attends training, meetings and other events as requested by direct manager or senior management, including Head of Human Resources.
  • Assists colleagues by completing tasks outside own job role when requested, including supporting associated companies.
  • Maintains own working area in a professional and organised manner.
  • Always strives to improve the department’s operation and increase knowledge of own and related job functions.

  • Ensure Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met:
    • Comply with H&S policy & standards.
    • Identify and report hazards, incidents and accidents.
    • Be aware of where COSHH applies and adhere to the requirements.
    • Keep work area clean and tidy. Use 5S’s.
    • Use equipment in a safe manner.
    • Lead by example, promote safe practices and grow a safety focussed culture.

  • Confident and able to present to a group.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work individually.
  • Taking ownership of processes and responsibility for own workload.

  • Self-Starter/ Self Motivated.
  • Reliable – consistently good in quality and performance.
  • Honest – trustworthy to superiors and an ability to be trusted by the operatives.

  • Commitment – dedicated to deliver the best possible service to the customer.
  • Working knowledge of IT Systems (i.e WMS, Excel and others).
  • Ability to work cross functionally across departments.
  • Organisation skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
  • Able to demonstrate enthusiastic, proactive, hands on approach to daily tasks.
