Debbie Burbage Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-feel business based in Rushden. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join the organisation on a maternity cover fixed-term contract for a period of 12-15 months, playing a key role in managing the accounts and administration function and supporting the wider leadership team. You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance operations while also producing accurate and timely financial information for Head Office and the Board. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being involved, working closely with colleagues, and contributing positively to a collaborative working environment.

Duties include:

  • Full responsibility for daily bank reports, reconciliations and cash flow forecasting
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, KPIs, balance sheet reconciliations and trial balance
  • Sales and purchase ledger oversight, including reconciliations and anomaly resolution
  • Payroll preparation support, including commission calculations
  • VAT returns, budgets, audits and liaison with external auditors
  • Intercompany transactions and reporting to Head Office
  • Fixed asset and vehicle depreciation journals
  • General administrative and HR support as required

The Candidate

You will be an experienced Accountant who is AAT qualified, ACCA or CIMA part-qualified, or qualified by experience, with at least five years of general accounting experience in a small to medium sized business. You are confident in producing management accounts, reconciling complex balance sheets, and working comfortably with Excel and financial systems. Just as important as your technical capability, you bring strong interpersonal skills and enjoy building positive working relationships across the business. You are personable, resilient, and able to handle the pace and pressure that naturally comes with a busy finance role. You will thrive in a close-knit, family-orientated company where banter, passion, and mutual support are part of everyday life, and where a hands-on, can-do attitude is genuinely valued.

Remuneration

Salary: £35,000 circa £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

Benefits: 22 days holiday plus statutory days, pension, parking

Hours: 8 am 5 pm Monday to Friday (on-site)
