A national surveying firm with a regional office in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Utility Surveyor to support ongoing infrastructure, construction, and civil engineering projects across the Midlands and surrounding areas. This is a fully site-based role focused purely on carrying out utility surveys and onsite data capture. The successful candidate will not be responsible for processing or producing final CAD drawings, allowing the role to remain heavily fieldwork focused.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out utility mapping surveys across a range of construction and infrastructure projects
  • Detect and trace underground utilities using electromagnetic locating equipment and GPR
  • Collect accurate onsite survey data in line with company procedures and client specifications
  • Work with Leica/Trimble total stations and GPS equipment where required
  • Ensure surveys are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Liaise with site teams, engineers, and project managers onsite
  • Maintain survey equipment and vehicles to company standards
  • Complete site records and daily documentation accurately

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Utility Surveyor
  • Competent using GPR and EML equipment
  • Experience working on construction, infrastructure, rail, highways, or civil engineering projects
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong understanding of onsite health and safety practices
