We are seeking an experienced Engineering Geologist with a strong commercial mindset and proven ability to manage site investigations and drilling operations. This is a key role within a growing team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial scoping through to delivery, while also contributing to client engagement and commercial performance.
The ideal candidate will have consultancy experience and be comfortable balancing technical delivery with site management, cost awareness, and client interaction.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing and supervising site investigations and drilling operations, including subcontractor and drilling crews.
- Planning, coordinating, and overseeing geotechnical and geo-environmental fieldwork campaigns, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Liaising directly with clients, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Preparing site documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, and field reports.
- Contributing to the interpretation of ground conditions and assisting with both factual and interpretative reporting.
- Supporting project costing, budgeting, and commercial tracking.
- Developing and maintaining client relationships and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and health and safety regulations.
The successful candidate should have proven experience as an Engineering Geologist within a consultancy environment, along with strong experience managing site investigations and drilling crews. A solid understanding of geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigation techniques is essential, along with commercial awareness and the ability to support project delivery from a cost perspective. Strong communication and client-facing skills are required, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. A full UK driving licence is also essential.
Experience in both residential and commercial ground investigation projects would be beneficial, as would exposure to cost control, quotations, or broader project management responsibilities. Experience working closely with engineers, contractors, and external stakeholders would also be advantageous.
