Dean Close School is seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable EAL Teacher to support students whose first language is not English. The successful candidate will deliver engaging English language lessons and provide academic and pastoral support to international pupils across Years 9 - 13.

The role involves teaching small groups and individual students, developing their skills in grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking. You will also support pupils in their wider academic studies and help prepare Sixth Form students for IELTS and Cambridge English examinations.

The post includes contributing to the Sixth Form Access Programme, advising colleagues across the curriculum on supporting EAL learners, and supporting students’ integration into school life through tutoring, mentoring and intercultural activities.

The EAL department is dynamic, with pupil numbers and teaching groups changing throughout the year, so flexibility and a student-centred approach are essential.

The successful candidate will also contribute to international pupil events, induction activities, and the wider life of the school through meetings, parent events and professional development opportunities.
