Sonic Scaffolding is a growing scaffold contractor delivering projects across the South. We are seeking an experienced Business Operations Manager to work alongside the Managing Director and Technical Leadership Team to improve systems, controls, profitability, and business performance. This is not a scaffolding technical role. We already have experienced scaffolding professionals responsible for estimating, technical delivery, site operations, and health & safety. Your role will be to ensure the business runs efficiently, profitably, and with strong operational discipline.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the business operating systems that support our project delivery teams. You will provide structure, accountability, reporting, and commercial oversight across the business, ensuring that information is accurate, decisions are data-driven, and performance is continually improving.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Performance
- Monitor company profitability and cashflow.
- Review job performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Work with finance team to improve debtor collection and working capital.
- Produce management reports and performance dashboards.
- Business Operations
- Develop and improve business processes and systems.
- Drive efficiency across administration and support functions.
- Ensure consistency of procedures across the business.
- Support planning and resource visibility.
- People & Performance
- Manage office staff, yard staff and scaffolders while in the yard.
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding.
- Lead performance management processes.
- Develop KPIs and accountability frameworks.
- Commercial Oversight
- Review project performance and identify risks early.
- Support forecasting and business planning.
- Work alongside the Technical Lead to improve margin control.
- Ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented.
- Compliance & Governance
- Maintain company policies and procedures.
- Support quality, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Ensure accurate business records and reporting.
About You
You may come from construction, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, utilities, facilities management, or another operationally focused business. You do not need scaffolding experience, but you must be comfortable working alongside technical specialists, tradesmen and holding teams accountable for results. You will have:

What a Typical Day Looks Like
7am – 8.30am: You will be in the yard/office helping the lorries/scaffolders get on the road. Problems solving, dealing with absence, juggling the diary.
8.30am-3pm: Focus on business operations, improving systems, tracking data. This time of day is much quieter and you will have time to yourself. You may see on-site operations, but you will mainly be office based.
3pm – 4.30pm: Lorries start arriving back into the yard. The key is to organisation, get vehicles loaded for the next day. Motivate the team to carry out useful tasks up to 4.30pm.
