Job Type

Full-time – 37.50 hours per week.

Primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service, which may occasionally include weekend or evening events.

Job Description

Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Catering Manager to join our team.

The ideal candidate will oversee all facets of our catering services, ensuring that our residents and community visitors enjoy meals that are both nutritious, high quality, and culturally inclusive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare menus that meet the dietary needs, nutritional standards, and preferences of residents.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and support of Deafway-catered events.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental health, food hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct and record mandated audits and checks.
  • Lead a small team of kitchen staff, including supervision, professional development, and scheduling.
  • Efficient management of stock control.
  • Assist in the management of the Catering budget.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to accommodate special dietary requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen.
  • Engage with residents to gather feedback and continuously improve catering services.
  • Oversee stock and provision of the bar.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Certified in Food Hygiene Level 3 or higher.
  • Expertise and certification in Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a catering management role, preferably within a care home setting.
  • Proficiency and certification in food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of dietary requirements for elderly residents.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with Deaf residents and staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including COSHH, food safety standards, and CQC fundamental standards, regulation 14.
  • Experience in budget management.
  • Experience with the safe use of kitchen equipment.
