About the Role

ITV is on a digital transformation with data and insight at the centre of change. ITV Insights will lead the business in putting insight in every key decision. For example; What content should we commission? Which audience is most commercially attractive for us? How do we optimise our product to improve view through rates? The answers to these questions and more will enable ITV to succeed in the future. You will be a key player in shaping our understanding of our business. This role will work closely with cross functional teams to deliver the right insight solutions for our stakeholders.

The role will primarily deliver curated insights but will seek to introduce and champion a multitude of techniques as appropriate (research and analytics, with a focus on Barb analysis). The individual will act as a catalyst for change in the organisation and will influence business stakeholders through their collaborative approach. The ultimate purpose of this role is to drive business growth - enabling stakeholders to make more effective decisions which drive greater business value. This will require strategic insights focusing on how we can optimise ITVX and how we can ensure we reach the biggest possible audience across multiple potential distribution channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on analysis of platform and distribution channel performance through Barb and first party analytics data
  • Execute and deliver audience insight that improves decision making and business growth for the ITVX Product & Distribution teams
  • Deliver insights that align to the success of ITVX - including driving number of viewers, viewing engagement and commercial growth - through a deep understanding of viewer habits
  • Visually represent data to drive clear business decisions and action
  • Develop models that simplify complex problems to enable informed decision making, including forecasting performance over the medium-long term
  • Be an approachable, reliable and visible point of contact for key stakeholders
  • Have a proactive and innovative mindset, with a strong commitment to staying updated on emerging data techniques and methodologies
  • Work with other domains to realise synergies and consistency between teams
  • Help foster a culture of curiosity, continuous learning and innovation within the Insights team
  • Help the development of career paths and development programs for talent within the team

Skills & Knowledge

  • A very strong understanding of existing TV audience measurement (BARB and others) and the challenges and opportunities within audience measurement more broadly
  • Some experience in the full range of research techniques – both qualitative and quantitative, traditional and digital
  • Have a proactive and innovative mindset, with a strong commitment to staying updated on emerging data techniques and methodologies. Being open to exploring and integrating new techniques is crucial to complement and improve our existing insights
  • Proven as a skilled, dynamic and amenable communicator whether in person, as a presenter, or on the page
  • A good understanding of ITV's place in the wider television and streaming market, including recent partnership deals with other media organizations
  • Passionate about TV and Streaming media
  • Be able to think imaginatively and creatively about the issues facing ITV and its audiences, as well as the wider market
  • Proven interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills both within own teams and wider within the business
  • Comfortable dealing with Product, Technology and Commercial teams internally and externally
  • Have initiative as well as proven organisational and workflow management abilities - the ability to manage multiple streams of work and hit deadlines is important
