The role is part of the global data and insights team at ITV Studios, aiming to deliver the best global intelligence from brilliant data sets to maximise revenue across Global Sales for scripted, unscripted and formats, Zoo55, Brand Partnerships via Studio 55 as well for Content & Production. As the data analyst within the Global Viewing team, you will be responsible for delivering the insights which support our global content strategy and sales.

While viewing data is our core currency, you will triangulate Ratings (BARB/Nielsen) with Market data Intelligence (Ampere, K7, NoTa) and Social Sentiment (i.e. Sprinklr) to build a 360-degree view of success. You will focus on strategic, forward-looking analysis that helps us understand why content travels, puts performance into context for the channel, platform or market, and considers the business and commercial implications of your findings.

The role includes:

  • Building global viewing data sets & analysis: Support the senior and lead analyst defining the technical data mapping across territories. Ensure that key content brands (e.g. Love Island) are accurately aligned across international datasets to maintain a “Single Source of Truth” for key content brands.
  • Data Extraction: Use SQL and viewing platforms (e.g., Techedge/BARB) to extract performance data. Handle regular and ad-hoc data retrieval for the sales teams, moving beyond standard dashboards to find specific answers.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain the day-to-day quality of our data.
  • Market Data Augmentation: Assist in the collection of alternative metrics for “data-poor” markets. Help find and organize non-traditional data to provide a clearer picture where official ratings are limited.
  • Insight delivery: Support in developing a good understanding of viewership trends in specific international markets. Provide the “so what” by putting show performances into the context of local platform trends.
  • Performance Tracking: Take ownership of monitoring and tracking the international performance of our titles, providing clear summaries and identifying standout hits for the business.
  • Sales Support: Translate complex data into persuasive “sales stories.” Provide evidence-based insights that help our teams pitch and sell shows to global buyers.
  • Forecasting Support: Update and maintain the benchmarking models used to predict show success. Ensure comparison sets are relevant and up-to-date for new launches.
  • Contextual Intelligence: Augment TV ratings reporting by integrating market trends and social data intelligence.
  • Dashboarding & automation: Update and enhance interactive visualization dashboards (Looker/Tableau). Help stakeholders transition from manual Excel files to self-serve automated tools by ensuring views are accurate and user-friendly.
  • Automation Identification: Proactively identify repetitive manual tasks in your workflow. Work closely with the Senior Analyst to define requirements for technical data pipelining, helping to move the team toward more automated solutions.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria):

  • Demonstrable experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role, with a proven track record of using SQL to query and manipulate datasets.
  • Comfortable working with raw data and have an interest in data quality and enrichment.
  • Working proficiency with cloud-based platforms such as GCP (BigQuery) or equivalent to extract and process data.
  • Sound knowledge of international viewing currencies and software (e.g., Techedge, Nielsen, BARB).
  • Understanding of the core metrics of linear (ratings, share) and the basic principles of streaming data.
  • Experience translating data into clear, actionable insights for commercial or sales teams.
  • Ability to maintain and enhance interactive dashboards using Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI.
  • Proven track record of using data to drive business value in a global content sales business.
  • Able to identify and question potential biases or anomalies in analytical output and datasets.
  • Comfortable presenting findings across a range of formats, ensuring the “so what” is clear whether in a slide, a dashboard, or a brief email.
  • Good understanding of the global TV and streaming landscape and a desire to understand the drivers behind content success.
