The Role
We are looking for Sound Assistants to join our freelance Talent Pool, based in Leeds.
There are currently no available positions; however, when opportunities arise, successful candidates from our talent pool may be offered contracts on a freelance basis, as and when required.
You will provide first-line technical support for our Sound Department and Production in acquiring the best possible sound while filming on location and in the studio.
Emmerdale is recorded both in a studio and on location, utilising Fisher booms and fishpoles.
In this role, you will operate fishpoles during the recording of scenes, drive the production van between Base and Locations, and actively rig and de-rig specialised sound equipment both before and after the shoot begins.
Driving duties are an essential part of this role.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience as a Sound Assistant (or in a similar audio role) within Film or TV, with experience on a continuing drama preferable
- An aptitude for and experience working with a wide range of audio technology including cables, microphones, Fisher booms, fishpoles, and radio microphones.
- A strong interest in working on a continuing drama.
- A driving licence is required (or equivalent where a disability has been disclosed), as you will be required to drive a van on a regular basis.
- Highly flexible, reliable, punctual, and organized to accommodate long production days and changing schedules.
- This is a manual handling role and requires you to move and set up heavy sound equipment on a daily basis.
- A proactive attitude toward developing your professional knowledge and skill set.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and confidently liaise with various individuals and departments in a professional manner.
