Overview
ITV Tyne Tees is looking for an Early Presenter to join our broadcast and digital news team. You will be based at our main studio in Gateshead.
As Early Presenter, you are the face of regional news bulletins within ITV’s breakfast programme. You may also present other news output. Your responsibilities include:
- Delivering output to a high standard, ensuring it is engaging, informative, and entertaining.
- Maintaining editorial accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
- Carrying out morning check calls and providing summaries of breaking stories.
- Ensuring the digital service is updated regularly with contacts and diary items.
- Exercising excellent editorial judgement and providing guidance to colleagues.
- Participating in production and planning meetings.
- Developing original story ideas and maximising their impact.
- Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in news coverage.
- Reacting swiftly to breaking news stories.
- Keeping up-to-date with local, regional, and national news.
- Representing ITV at events and maintaining newsroom planning files.
- Researching and packaging high-quality news and features.
- Embracing newsroom technology and generating creative ideas.
- Encouraging audience interaction.
Skills required:
- Fully qualified NCTJ, BJTC or equivalent experience.
- Strong and creative writing skills.
- Knowledge of media law and compliance.
- Ability to prioritise work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent news judgement and knowledge of national and regional news.
- Strong logistical skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Proven ability to build a strong network of contacts.
- Understanding of digital platforms and social media.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to health and safety policies.
