Commitment: 3 hours per month

The Deaf Unity Cafe is a monthly meet-up to socialise in BSL. It happens on the second Friday of the month, 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Southbank Centre. Please note: we are open to suggestions for a different regular date.

Responsibilities

  • Host the Deaf Unity cafe once a month.
  • Take a register of attendees.
  • Make sure everyone feels included.
  • Support with updating the Facebook group. Post photos and BSL videos to advertise the cafe.
  • Use the WhatsApp group to answer questions and share news.

Experience/Skills

  • Fluent deaf BSL user.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to engage with diverse groups of people.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Comfortable filming self in BSL to share on social media.
