DEA Aviation are a specialised airborne operations company based at Gamston Airport in Retford. We have a team of just over 200 people and we are committed to the delivery of specialised aerial data via cutting edge mission systems installed on our aerial platforms.

We're looking for a Senior Operations Controller to join our Operations Control Centre (OCC), the hub that keeps everything connected. You'll be a key figure in the day-to-day running of the OCC, stepping up as shift lead or duty manager as required and helping to shape the performance and development of the wider team around you.

This isn't an entry-level position. We're looking for someone who already understands the rhythm of aviation operations and is ready to take on more ownership: someone who leads by example, keeps a cool head when the pressure is on, and genuinely enjoys bringing others along with them. This is also an on-site role but there will be the opportunity to work remotely on an ad hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as shift lead or duty manager, taking ownership of OCC operations during your watch
  • Mentoring and supporting junior controllers as they develop their skills and confidence
  • Serving as the central coordination point between the OCC and our deployed bases across Europe.
  • Maintaining clear, timely communication with internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Monitoring and responding to operational activity in a fast-moving environment
  • Using our internal systems to track, log and support ongoing operations
  • Supporting overseas operations on an occasional basis, typically around twice a year
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in aviation operations, essential
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Confidence with IT and digital systems; they're part of your daily toolkit
  • A natural communicator who can manage up, across and down with equal ease
  • Someone who takes the lead without being asked and supports their team without being prompted
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as operations rarely follow a script
