Role
The Security Team delivers a welcoming, supportive presence for students, staff, visitors and the wider community, enhancing the customer experience and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and vibrant campus. As a Security Officer, you will provide an exceptional customer service experience, ensuring everyone who uses the campus feels supported and valued. You will adapt to both traditional security tasks when required and broader student support responsibilities. No previous security experience is necessary – full training, development opportunities and ongoing support are provided. You will work independently and as part of a team. Good fitness is required to patrol campus buildings and outdoor areas on foot. The role operates on a 5-week rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Ideal Candidate
- Good observational and assessment skills
- Confidence in problem-solving and decision-making in dynamic situations
- Computer literate – familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Able to produce clear written reports using a Case Management System
- Physical fitness suitable for on-foot patrol duties
- Desire to provide excellent customer service to a diverse campus community
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check (required)
- Must be able to pass an SIA course for Door Supervisor and CCTV as a condition of the role
- Full Category B driving licence desirable but not mandatory
- Education: O’ Level / GCSE or equivalent
