Head of Space and Resource Management (Leicester, GB, LE1 9BH)

The Head of Space and Resource Management, will lead the strategic space planning and resource function at DMU, ensuring the efficient and effective utilisation of the university estate in alignment with academic and operational objectives.

Main duties and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to our Estates and Facilities Directorate, as Head of Space and Resource Management. Working within a dedicated team, you will lead this specialist team to ensure the universitys space is managed both efficiently and effectively, whilst ensuring the student experience is enhanced and our staff are empowered.

About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Services,will lead the strategic space planning and resource function at DMU, ensuring the efficient and effective utilisation of the university estate in alignment with academic and operational objectives.

The role involves leading on high level and operational space and resource solutions, developing long-term and flexible space strategies, overseeing operational space planning, and managing key staff responsible for space and resource services.

As the universitys central point of contact for space and resource allocation, the postholder will work closely with faculties, professional services directorates, and university leadership to ensure space is aligned with institutional priorities and allocated in support of strategic goals. The role requires proactive stakeholder engagement and cross-university collaboration to ensure that space provision effectively meets both current and future needs.

The postholder will be an integral part of the delivery of DMUs new campus masterplan and smart campus vision, which includes plans for divestments and modernisations of DMUs estate.

About You

You will be a compassionate, strategic leader with substantial experience space planning, data analysis andresource allocation and strong collaborative skills. A knowledge of working within in UK higher education is desirable but not essential. You will leadership skills and a proven track records of delivering service improvements, an in-depth understanding of space utilisation best practice and experience of managing multiple projects and a strong team work ethos.

Working Arrangements
