The Estates and Facilities Directorate is large and diverse, employing over 300 people over a range of roles from manual, student facing to professional surveyors and sustainability experts. The workload is varied from proactive maintenance, reactive problem solving and always at the heart of service delivery is customer engagement.

The Leisure team sit within Estates and Facilities and comprises of 3 sites: The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre, The Watershed and Beaumont Park Sports Facility. The sites deliver indoor and outdoor access for competitive, recreational and social activity for students, staff and the wider community to participate in. The Leisure team is made up of 32 team members, of varying roles, and is supported with a range of temporary staff. These staff cover the opening times, Monday-Sunday, 6am - 10.30pm.

The role is part of a busy leisure team who deliver over 104 hours of contact time a week to members, pay as you go users, external hirers and the wider University community. The role is to competently supervise and control a busy fitness suite and studio environment, swimming pool and climbing wall by being highly motivated, professional and competently trained to deliver excellent service. The role is based in the QEII Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre and is full time 37 hours, over an 8 week rota that includes evenings and weekends. You will be responsible for understanding and knowing all about the core business, be able to assist our users to get the most from their visits to our facilities, be welcoming, friendly and be the go-to person for all our users about all of our services. You will also support other colleagues across leisure when required.

You will be eager and willing to learn while undertaking your Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification alongside National Pool Lifeguard qualification, and have a passion for wanting to start your career within the leisure industry. You will have good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to use basic Microsoft office packages. You will be required to work evenings and weekends as required, and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.

You will benefit from access to the Local Government Pension scheme; 22 days annual leave plus concessionary days.
