Do you have a strong practical grounding in animal husbandry combined with a desire to break into the livestock industry? If you've got on farm Dairy/cattle experience, and you are competent at vaccinating and livestock compliance, this could be your time to take a step up to a bigger challenge. Our client is hiring a new Rearing Technician to their rearing team to cover across the South West and South Wales. The successful candidate will be mobile, attending weekly and fortnightly calf collections and travelling between calf units across the region; responding to situations, administering vaccinations, weighing calves, and carrying out other routine procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Working within existing network of rearers
- Calf induction onto farm
- Vaccine administration
- Weighing calves
- Splitting calf groups
- Assist Rearers with use of Agriwebb and Landapp
- Handling passport checks
- Basic health checks
- Safe transportation
- Upholding animal welfare principles
You will have:
- A working interest in calf rearing/ beef industry
- Experience working with Dairy and/or Beef Cattle/calves
- Ability to react when situations arise
- Drive to succeed in a large scale, fast moving livestock business
- Knowledge of different systems of rearing cattle
- Positive brand ambassador at all times
