An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly respected and established farming consultancy based on the Dorset and Somerset border. Working with a diverse portfolio of farming businesses, you will provide trusted advice and strategic support to help clients improve profitability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability. This varied role will involve financial planning, business appraisals, planning applications, and delivering specialist guidance to dairy farming businesses. It is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, forward-thinking professional who is passionate about agriculture and driven to make a tangible impact within the farming community.
Key Responsibilities
• Undertake farm and rural business appraisals
• Provide financial planning and business consultancy services to farming and rural enterprises
• Analyse accounts and benchmark performance across both financial and technical farm management metrics
• Assess the viability of business proposals and investment opportunities Prepare and submit planning applications
• Facilitate and lead discussion groups for farming clients (occasional evening commitments may be required)
• Deliver specialist dairy and livestock advice, including guidance on grassland management, livestock performance, and soil nutrition
• Working with clients across Dorset, Somerset and Devon
What We Are Looking For
• Degree-qualified in Agriculture or a related discipline
• Previous consultancy experience within the agricultural sector
• Strong technical understanding of dairy farming, including nutrition, and fertility and forage management
• Proven financial planning, budgeting, and accounts analysis skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with farmers and rural businesses
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and AI-based technologies
• A full UK driving licence
