An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Poultry Assistant Manager to join a large-scale poultry operation in South Somerset. This well-established, family-run business has a strong presence in the poultry sector and is committed to ongoing investment and expansion as part of its growth strategy. We are seeking an experienced bird rearer to support the successful day-to-day management of a busy poultry enterprise. The role involves rearing pullets to point of lay, carrying out regular bird walking, and maintaining high standards of house management. Key Responsibilities
- Rear pullets through to point of lay
- Carry out regular bird walking and welfare checks
- Maintain high standards of biosecurity and site hygiene, with a strong focus on health and safety
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail across all aspects of the role
- Monitor bird health and identify any issues promptly
- Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and all relevant assurance and legislative requirements
- Monitor and maintain flock health, welfare, and performance through regular stock observation and timely intervention
- Carry out audits and maintain accurate records, while analysing flock performance and driving continuous improvement
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience within the poultry sector
- A sound understanding of poultry production and husbandry
- A flexible approach and willingness to meet the changing demands of the business
- Strong communication skills
- A good understanding of biosecurity protocols
- A full UK driving licence
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent practical experience
