We have an opportunity for Production Assistants to join our team at our site in Loughton, Essex. Reporting to the Print Process Lead, you will play a key role in supporting three areas of our production. The successful candidates may be deployed to support different areas throughout the working day and week with the following main responsibilities:
- Unblocking paper/polymer sheets manually for printing presses and reporting any machine malfunctions.
- Ensuring all print processes are supplied with necessary consumables; stock is readily available and accurately recorded when leaving and entering from our vaults.
- Primary preparation of notes for cutting and feeding for examination.
- Taking off and packing notes accurately.
- Supporting BPS, Manual Cell working, Sheet exam and Guillotine functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Unblocking: Manually unblock work before printing and report any machine malfunctions to the Print Process Lead.
- Finishing: Feed the BPS machine, feeding and removing notes. Check sheets and collated notes – sort, band, shrink-wrap, label and pack to customer requirements. Prepare sheets for the guillotine and support other finishing tasks when required. Report immediately any machine malfunctions to the Finishing Process Lead.
- Middle Duties: Supply processes with required consumables and maintain accurate stock/vault records. Understand workflow in-line with Production Plan. Manage goods-in and waste removal.
- General: Transport cages and work using powered trucks. Record data to ensure audit trails and SAGE is maintained. Compliance with Health & Safety regulations (RA, CoSHH, Manual handling & powered forklift truck operation).
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Double Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm or 2pm - 10pm (alternated weekly). From 31st August 2026, we will transition to a 24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift.
Base location: Debden
Basic Salary: £30,813 per annum on Double Days, rising to £32,715 per annum on 24/5 shift pattern.
