We have an exciting opportunity for an Ink Technologist to join our team at our site in Loughton, Essex. Reporting to the Pre‑Press Manager, you will be responsible for day‑to‑day planning and manufacture of convert materials for production.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage ink production, including material ordering, stock control and progress reporting.
- Manufacture inks to precise specifications, operate specialist lab equipment, and conduct quality checks using advanced testing methods.
- Analyse test results, adjust batches to meet specification, and ensure accurate, auditable recording of all materials, tests and finished products.
- Lead and support improvement initiatives, machine trials, troubleshooting across production areas, and contribute to R&D and quality‑control enhancements.
- Maintain strict security and Health & Safety compliance, ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and well‑maintained, and uphold consistent colour and quality standards for all ink batches.
Qualifications
- Higher National Certificate in Chemistry or A Level in Chemistry or equivalent with 3 years’ experience in the Ink Section.
- Detailed knowledge of ink manufacturing processes and printing processes.
- Detailed knowledge of chemistry analytical techniques.
- Ability to colour match.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and SAGE.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of banknote printing processes and associated security procedures.
- Previous experience of operating machinery in a factory environment.
- Able to work to tight deadlines and change priorities when needed.
