The Vacancy

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Materials Development team. This role is critical to maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance that our customers expect and depend on.

Working at the heart of our Innovation department, you’ll play a hands-on role in ensuring that our customers receive progressive, creative and high-quality products accompanied by expert technical support.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver best in class execution and reporting for all types of testing and support De La Rue’s ongoing compliance with the Laboratory Quality Management System and ISO 17025, by:

  • Following laboratory procedures and ensuring adherence to ISO 17025requirements
  • Writing and reviewing laboratory procedures, test methods, templates.
  • Performing laboratory testing in line with agreed methods, recording results and preparing reports for sign off.
  • Monitoring required environmental conditions and reporting any non-conformances to Lab Manager.
  • Organising equipment calibration and servicing according to the calibration & servicing schedule.
  • Providing accurate records for secure movement of materials.
  • Maintaining the supply of lab consumables by conducting stock checks and placing purchase orders as required.
  • Providing training to others on lab procedures and test methods as required.
  • Supporting the Lab Manager and internal customers in the development of test methods and laboratory procedures as required.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives, e.g. taking action to address non-conformities, and implementing appropriate corrective and preventive actions to enhance quality performance.
  • Ensure that all activity within the laboratory is conducted in a manner compatible with EHS, COSHH and company security/housekeeping requirements.

Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: Full Time – 37.5 hrs per week

Base location: Basingstoke, Hampshire

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified to A-Level (or equivalent) in a technical subject or as an alternative be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience and on the job training.
  • Qualified to an undergraduate degree level in a scientific discipline (desirable).
  • Experience of working within an ISO17025 accredited laboratory and/or industrial environment.
  • Experience of working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Experience in security manufacturing (desirable).
  • Experience of working to deadlines.
