We are looking to employ an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team at the Port of Blyth. We have an array of cargo handling plant that includes FLT, Cranes & Heavy Plant that require regular servicing and repair. Previous experience with these types of equipment would be an advantage. Due to the nature of our business, you will need to be flexible with a can-do attitude. You will also be required to assist with the loading/unloading of cargos and learn all aspects of stevedoring including operating plant & equipment where required. This is predominantly a day shift position; however, you will be required to work shifts and weekends when necessary. Overtime will also be required to cover the needs of the business. Our business is located across four sites, so a full driving licence is essential.
The Port of Blyth is the port operating division of Blyth Harbour Commission, established in 1882. It handles cargo across four terminals based around the River Blyth.
Responsibilities:- Perform regular servicing and repair of cargo handling plant, including FLT, cranes and heavy plant.
- Assist with loading/unloading cargos and learn all aspects of stevedoring, including operating plant and equipment where required.
- Work predominantly day shifts; may be required to work shifts and weekends; provide overtime as needed.
- Maintain a full driving licence due to operations across four sites.
- Experience with cargo handling plant (FLT, cranes, heavy plant) is advantageous.
- Flexible with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn all aspects of stevedoring.
