Join us as a Mine Geologist where you will support the Woodsmith Geology team in delivering geological assistance for project development, including assisting with drilling operations for resource definition.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently applying Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and takes personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
- Complies with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
- Completes personal risk assessments, equipment checks and inspections to ensure safe work.
- Identifies and reports hazards within daily work area to control risks.
- Collecting and recording high-quality geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological data to support project development, including drilling, shaft sinking and tunneling activities.
- Engaging with Geology Team to maintain and improve data management systems and processes.
- Assisting in validation of geological data from other sources including drilling, laboratories, geophysical surveys and remote sensing.
- Supporting the planning and operations of geological field work including drilling and surveys to ensure they are safe, efficient and cost-effective.
- Organising geological support tasks including warehousing and logistics.
- Assisting with geological interpretation and geological modelling incorporating multiple geoscientific datasets.
- Engaging in continuous learning and development activities.
Qualifications
- Relevant Degree in Geology/Geosciences. We are open to considering candidates at different career stages, including recent graduates, where there is strong potential and willingness to learn.
Technical Knowledge
- Operations: Knowledge of operational processes within scope of role. Practical geological experience of mapping, logging etc.
- Management: Data management techniques. Good communication skills. Project management skills.
- Compliance: Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory and regulatory requirements.
