Delivers up-to-date, relevant and in-depth consumer demand trends, downstream competitive environment, focused on diamond and competitive categories, in support of country, regional and global diamond market size estimation, demand forecasting, strategic projects, De Beers strategic and operational planning process, De Beers strategy development, as agreed with Sr. Market Insights & Analytics Manager and in coordination with central and local brand teams, as appropriate.
- Responsible for research and survey project management globally, including all relevant activities such as:
- Management of research projects from research brief preparation to successful delivery of research findings – including contribution to questionnaire development, reporting specifications, analyses and presentation preparation and delivery.
- Liaison and management of research suppliers, including contractual documentation, invoicing, scheduling and all admin and housekeeping project aspects.
- Integration of 3rd party data and competitor results into market insight output.
- Accountable for collating the analysis of research data and findings to extract business insight and render it in the form of clear presentations suited to a senior executive audience.
- Accountable for collating regular global consumer demand updates which feed into the Market Insight Hub, SLT updates to be delivered by the Senior Manager and for the Global retail stocks estimation model.
Supports Sr. Market Insights & Analytics Manager, and the broader Global Markets and Price Analytics team in contributing insights from market research, 3rd party surveys and other business intelligence sources in support of ad hoc strategy and analytics projects and the business planning process.
Supports Sr. Market Insights & Analytics Manager in the maintenance, further development and management of the De Beers Insight Portal, a digital platform for sharing of data, information and insight across the De Beers Group.
Works with the De Beers appointed external provider of advanced analytics and other data sources for the timely and comprehensive reporting of US market sales and inventory trends.
Works with De Beers IM to enable digitisation and automation of survey and other business data to improve the quality and scope of the analytics output.
Shares research results, knowledge and insights with B&DD Insight team in London and in markets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5 years market research experience in an agency or client-side role, involving proven track record of quantitative and qualitative techniques, consumer and business-to-business audiences and the full breadth of research specialisms such as brand and communications research techniques, customer and stakeholder engagement and reputation, pricing, product development, social media and digital, as well as desk research.
- Experience in the jewellery, luxury and retail sectors is an advantage but not essential.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite of software for analytical and presentation purposes, including advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with specialist market research reporting software packages for data analysis (e.g. SPSS, IBM Survey Reporter) and data analysis and visualisation packages (e.g. PowerBI).
- Ability to solve business problems and queries through data analytics and simple models.
- Ability to generate business insights from research findings and macro-economic and secondary market data.
- High fluency in English - spoken and written.
- Self-driven with high personal work standards.
