The Assistant Management Accountant will provide a range of finance & administrative support to the De Beers UK Finance Department. In addition, the individual will assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. This role has no supervisory responsibility for staff but will be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis and must therefore be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

Please note: this is an 18 month fixed term contract.

  • Month End: DBUK Intercompany process as detailed below.
  • Forecasts/Budget: Responsible for receiving travel submissions from all cost centres and ensuring accurate upload onto the Onestream system.
  • Accounts Payable/Purchasing: Open/close the purchasing period in SAP on a monthly basis; Co-ordinating Purchase Orders and processing of ad hoc payable invoices for DBUK Finance; Periodic review and reconciliation of the DBUK GR/IR account to ensure only current items remain including follow up and resolution with the relevant EAs; Periodic review of VIM (Vendor Invoice Management) to monitor and support business if required on remediation of processing of invoices; Maintenance of SAP release strategy (approvals).
  • Intercompany: Ensuring that service orders are raised for intercompany recharges and are goods/service receipted by the responsible individuals (EA’s) in the underlying ledger; Responsible for implementing and managing an intercompany confirmation process for both month end and forecast/budget reporting; Managing a backlog of intercompany recharge and pass through costs from Anglo American.
  • Financial Statements: Preparation of annual financial statements of De Beers Corporate Secretary Limited and The Diamond Trading Company Limited; Support the DBUK Management Accountant in preparation of the De Beers UK Limited financial statements and the external audit.
  • VAT Return: Preparation of consolidation VAT return for DBUK VAT group.
  • Ad hoc: Assisting with ad hoc finance and admin tasks for DBUK as required including but not limited to: concur uploads, concur to HR data checks, processing of pension invoices, processing of pass through recharges from DBUK to the pension fund, mobile phone charges reallocation and SAP to Onestream reconciliation; Responsibility for preparation of PSA (PAYE Settlement Agreement) and SAO (Senior Accounting Officer) submissions; Responsibility for completing the Office for National Statistics (ONS) requirements as and when required.

Qualifications:

  • Part qualification in accounting.
  • Excel skills and sound working knowledge of other Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience in a finance-based environment supporting non-finance Managers.
  • SAP experience highly desirable.
  • Able to produce accurate schedules for internal and external departmental reporting.
  • Desire to simplify, change and improve processes.
  • Initiative-taking, attention to detail, flexible, able to work to tight deadlines within a team environment.

Key competencies: This person must be adaptable and able to determine and respond to priorities across a wide range of tasks, within tight deadlines. The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent degree of motivation and organisation, an ability to identify problems and identify and implement solutions towards their successful resolution, and show dedication and enthusiasm for the constant improvement of systems and processes. The role involves regular interaction with stakeholders across DBUK and with personnel at other group companies worldwide. The jobholder must therefore demonstrate strong communication skills.
