At De Aston School, we are seeking a dedicated and organised part-time Senior Support Officer to join our safeguarding team. This is a vital role at the heart of the school, ensuring that safeguarding concerns are managed effectively, sensitively, and in a timely manner.
Working closely with the Assistant Headteacher (Safeguarding) and pastoral colleagues, you will contribute to a culture of vigilance, early intervention, and strong support for vulnerable students. You will play a key role in ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Responsibilities
- Passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Experienced in working with young people and/or families, ideally in a school or safeguarding environment
- Calm, resilient, and confident in managing sensitive and challenging situations
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload
- A strong communicator, able to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, colleagues, and external agencies
- Skilled in maintaining accurate, confidential records and handling sensitive information professionally
- Confident in using ICT systems and databases (such as CPOMS or similar)
- Proactive and analytical, with the ability to identify patterns and respond effectively
- Able to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
- Fully committed to safeguarding, equality, and student wellbeing
Essential requirements
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
- Strong ICT skills and experience of using databases
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records
