Workplace description: This 13th-century hotel offers medieval features and picturesque gardens. It boasts individual bedrooms with antique furniture, a TV, CD player and tea/coffee facilities. The local beach is just 1 mile away. The restaurant serves modern British food, while the cosy bar offers a traditional menu. There is a pretty garden with an outside seating area. Some of the rooms feature elegant four-poster beds. Set on a hillside in the quaint town of Dunster, the hotel is just 5 minutes' walk from Dunster Castle.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the head chef in food preparation
  • Prepare the starters as well as the vegetables
  • Coordinate banqueting events alongside the banquet manager
  • Provide support to the restaurant's sales and marketing team
  • Be involved in the training of lower cadre staff
  • Help with menu planning
  • Oversee breakfast preparation and service
  • Meal preparation
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking and presentation in the restaurant
  • Enforce safety, health and hygiene standards in the kitchen
  • Troubleshoot any problems that may arise in the kitchen
  • Ensure that food goes to the customers in a timely manner
  • Manage and supervise the commis chefs that work under them

Essential criteria: Previous experience of working as a Chef de Partie in at least 1 Rosette standard establishment.
