Workplace description: Nestled in the heart of the Borrowdale valley and overlooking Lake Derwentwater, this majestic Lakeland slate-built hotel has had a commanding presence in the area for over 200 years. Standing in 40 acres of grounds, this hotel has one of the finest settings in the Lake District, with access to some of the most impressive walks in the area from the front door.
Main duties and responsibilities: We are seeking a Deputy General Manager, who will report directly into the General Manager of the hotel. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the General Manager and Heads of Department in the smooth running of the property.
Other core tasks arehelping to promote a prompt, professional appearance to the client and customer, to help lead the hotel and other teams through effective communication incorporating staff training, development and arbitration.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the running of the hotel in the General Managers absence, ensuring the hotel continues to achieve high standards and ensuring legal and statutory obligations are met.
Essential criteria: Will be proactive with a commercial approach to the business who can drive the sales and marketing strategy and demonstrate a record of accomplishment.
Will have a minimum of 2 years experience as a F&B Manager or Deputy General Manager in the 3/4 star hotel sector.
Will be an excellent motivator and leader of people, with a good track record of holding a team
Will have the desire and potential to be a General Manag-er in the future.
Be a self-starter who has the capacity to operate with little supervision and is not afraid to lead from the front in a fast-paced environment
