This is a full-time, on-site Quantity Surveyor role based in Larkfield. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing project costs from initial estimates through to final accounts, ensuring commercial viability and cost efficiency. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
  • Supporting cost planning and forecasting
  • Monitoring budgets
  • Preparing regular cost reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Evaluating tenders
  • Supporting contract negotiations
  • Assessing variations
  • Managing valuations and payments to subcontractors and suppliers

The Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and finance colleagues to ensure accurate financial control, compliance with contractual requirements, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Strong cost management capabilities, including Cost Control and Cost Management, with a track record of managing budgets on construction or civil engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying documentation, including BOQ preparation, measurement, and valuation for groundworks and construction activities.
  • Experience in Cost Planning, including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis across project lifecycles.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate Cost Reporting, including progress reports, variance analysis, and final accounts.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with standard construction contracts and procurement methods (e.g., NEC, JCT or similar).
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with site teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Excel, quantity surveying or estimating software) and willingness to learn internal systems.
  • Ability to work on-site in Larkfield and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment.
