The Opportunity
As a Senior Principal Writer, you’re a strategic and creative leader, driving content direction across brands, leading high-impact workstreams, and supporting the development of your writing team. You own the quality and ambition of your team’s output and contribute to the broader leadership of the Copy Department.
You’ll work across multiple brands and channels, applying deep scientific understanding and creative flair to every challenge. Whether leading pitches, building messaging platforms, or partnering with strategy and design, you consistently bring sharp thinking, exceptional writing, and a calming presence to everything you do. You’ll help shape the future of our work, our people and our agency.

You’re a highly experienced writer with a track record of delivering standout work. You’re adept at interpreting data, crafting compelling narratives, and applying brand strategy with precision. You bring confidence, clarity and warmth to your leadership, and people trust your judgement.
You’re motivated by the success of others, and you know how to bring the best out of your team. You understand the complexity of the healthcare space but make it look easy. And whether you’re pitching new business or shaping campaign narratives, you stay focused on delivering real impact.
What You’ll Bring
- A science degree or equivalent
- 6+ years’ experience in a healthcare agency writing role
- Demonstrated ability to lead writing teams and shape brand communication
- Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent storytelling, editing and presentation skills
- Confidence in high-level client interactions and complex project leadership
- Deep understanding of ABPI and global regulatory environments
- Experience guiding and developing writers at different levels
- Desirable but not essential:
- An awareness of developments in relevant therapeutic areas and disciplines
- Experience managing 3–4 people
- Experience with Veeva and other referencing platforms

- Lead planning and delivery across brands and projects

- Apply AI and tech tools to optimise writing processes and quality
- Review and refine SOPs to support high-quality, efficient output
- Support the Copy Leadership Team in the smooth running of the department
- Ensure deadlines and budgets are met across your workstream
- Have a flexible approach to work and shifting deadlines
- Complete and oversee timesheets regularly
- Build strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted voice in strategic discussions
- Partner confidently with internal teams to deliver seamless, cross-functional work
- Present clearly and persuasively in client meetings, workshops and pitches
- Provide actionable, constructive feedback to writing teams
- Help shape a positive, inclusive culture by modelling supportive leadership behaviours

- Confidently source, interpret and structure scientific data for creative application
- Shape and apply brand strategy in partnership with Planning and Client Services
- Mentor others in best practice writing, referencing and compliance
- Stay informed on therapy area trends, competitor activity and industry innovation
- Develop tools and trainings to support writing quality and consistency
- Share expertise generously and help build knowledge across the agency
- Maintain a high profile within the agency for content knowledge and expertise, and lead the content for designated accounts
- Take ownership of the writing function across key brands or business units
- Empower your team to grow in craft, responsibility and confidence
- Manage workloads proactively with PMs and leadership teams
- Support team recruitment, onboarding and career development
- Champion collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement
- Set the tone for a calm, constructive and high-performing team
