We are currently recruiting an experienced Sewing Machinist / Industrial Sewing Operative to join a busy manufacturing and production environment. This is a hands-on role suited to candidates with industrial sewing machine experience, ideally from a factory or production setting, rather than fashion or tailoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating industrial sewing machines and overlocking machines
- Sewing and assembling products from cut parts
- Working from drawings, templates, work instructions or samples
- Carrying out rework and quality checks where required
- Maintaining sewing machines, including basic cleaning and oiling
- Working to productivity, quality and traceability standards
- Supporting team members and maintaining a safe, clean workspace
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist, Sewing Operative or Sewing Machine Operator
- Strong background in industrial sewing (not domestic machines)
- Overlocking experience is essential
- Experience working in a manufacturing / production / factory environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
- Basic English communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience assembling products from cut parts
- Exposure to quality-controlled or high-volume production environments
