We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a precision engineering environment specialising in metal machining and high-tolerance components. This is a hands-on role working with multi-axis CNC sliding head machines (Citizen/Swiss-type).
Key Responsibilities:
- Full machine setup including tooling, fixtures, and datum setting
- Operating multi-axis CNC turning / sliding head lathes
- Editing G-code (Fanuc preferred) and adjusting offsets
- Performing first-off inspection and in-process quality checks
- Using micrometers, verniers, calipers to ensure tight tolerances
- Optimising speeds, feeds, and cycle times
- Maintaining production output, quality, and safety standards
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a CNC Setter / Operator / CNC Turner
- Strong background in turning (NOT milling)
- Experience with sliding head / Swiss-type CNC machines
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience with G-code / Fanuc controls
- Confident using precision measuring equipment
- Experience working with metal components in a manufacturing environment
