We are recruiting a Senior Software Engineer to join an established engineering software team developing software for advanced maritime navigation, surveillance and radar systems.
This is a hands‑on C++ software engineering role with responsibility across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from preliminary specification and software design through implementation, testing, verification and maintenance.
The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will use strong engineering practices to develop software for innovative products and solutions while supporting and enhancing existing software in line with commercial and product requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Specification, design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of C++ software.
Taking responsibility for all or an assigned portion of a software design through to verified software delivery.
Software testing, verification and problem solving throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Providing technical support and advice to less experienced software engineers.
Acting as a technical liaison with customers, suppliers and engineering collaborators on software-related matters.
Contributing to the continued development and improvement of complex engineering products and systems.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for:
Excellent C++ programming and software development knowledge.
Experience taking software projects through the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Good knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2022/2026.
Strong software design, software verification, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Good written and verbal English communication skills.
A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or another relevant technical subject.
Desirable Experience
Experience with GUI, UX or HCI would be beneficial, alongside scripting languages such as Python or Power Shell.
Knowledge of radar, maritime navigation, surveillance systems, ECDIS, embedded software, systems engineering or defence technology would also be advantageous.
